Guardianship Alliance New Mexico advocates for the highest quality of care for vulnerable persons who require the assistance of a legally-appointed decision maker. We educate family members, mental health professionals, legal professionals and care providers who serve individuals with mental impairments (such as dementia, mental illness, traumatic brain injury or developmental disability) as they work to care for others. We advocate for ethical standards and accountability in health care and fiduciary decision-making. Guardianship Alliance New Mexico works to promote autonomy in the legal care of vulnerable individuals, affordable access to the courts and guidance for guardians.
The Guardianship Alliance New Mexico has published the Guardianship and Conservatorship for Adults in New Mexico: A Decision-Maker's Manual, a resource for understanding guardianship and conservatorship rights and responsibilities. This manual is available as a free download.
Guardianship Alliance New Mexico strongly encourages similar efforts to provide access to information to families and others who act as guardians and conservators across the United States. Our manual pertains only to New Mexico, but we believe that the citizens of every state could benefit by participating in a similar project to provide resources to guardians and conservators.
Guardianship Alliance therefore makes the Guardianship and Conservatorship for Adults in New Mexico: A Decision-Maker's Manual available for adaptation and modification to the interested public through a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.
